Vintage Fender Guitars
What do you think of when you think of a vintage guitar?
Lots of people think that a vintage guitar is anything over 30 years old.
In the case of guitars though, vintage means any model made between the 1920's and the 1970's. This is because guitars made before 1920 were considered to be too crude and primitive, and anything manufactured after 1970 will have been mass produced.
Between these years guitars were more likely to be be handmade, and a lot of love, care and attention was put into their production. Every guitar, as a consequence ended up being just a little bit different from the others. The difference in some part of the guitar, i.e the pickups, could give one guitar a much different and maybe sweeter sound than another.
The most important thing to do before you jump in and buy yourself a vintage electric guitar is to do your research.
If buying online, please make sure that you check out as many different sources of info as possible before parting with your cash. If it can be arranged, try and check out the guitar closely in the flesh. If not ask, the seller for as many photos as you need to make an informed decision.
With Fender guitars check for low serial numers, there are websites that will be able to verify the guitar you are buying by specific serial number too.
After all, however much you just love the guitar, it is advisable to make sure that your pride and joy wont lose value over time.
