Children's Guitars
Children go for looks and parents are more practical. Children want to play and look like a rock star, and parents want them to learn on a 'proper' instrument.Luckily, there is now a massive selection of guitars for kids available, and so finding the balance between cool and practical is a lot easier.
All the top guitar companies now make guitars in smaller sizes for children, and models endorsed by the current fave such as Hannah Montana are big sellers.
When buying a childs first guitar, its a good idea if possible, to seek the help of a guitar player, but if this isn't possible, it is a fairly safe bet that buying an instrument from an established company, means that the guitar will be fit for its purpose.
Buying a childs guitar with a fixed bridge is also something I would recommend. The kids absolutely love a tremolo on a guitar, it can make some very interesting noises when they get bored trying to play it properly. The problem with this is that is virtually certain to send the guitar out of tune very regularly, so avoid if possible.
